Both Italy and Costa Rica won their opening games against their respective opponents as Italy beat England 2-1 and Costa Rica beat Uruguay 3-1. The latter victory, though, shocked everyone as the Los Ticos were considered as the favorites to lose. They will be hoping to do the same when the face Cesare Prandelli’s giants tonight. Italy’s leader and goalkeeper will be hopeful to start for his country after having made a recovery. The Central American’s side defense will be pushed to their limits as the likes of Mario Balotelli will be looking for an opening with the help of maestro Andrea Pirlo.

Players to look out for:Joel Campbell dazzled in his opening match as he scored two goals against Uruguay so this time too he will be looked upon to work his magic in front of the goal. Mario Balotelli, thestriker who scored the winning goal for his team against England will face a test from the Costa Rican back-line. Andrea Pirlo, the midfield legend known to create the most exciting of chances for his strikers with his skills will play a crucial role in putting his team on the goal sheet.

Teams head-to-head:

The two teams met each other back in 1994 which the Azzurris won by 1-0.

Probable line-ups:

Italy (4-5-1): Buffon; Chiellini, Barzagli, Paletta, Darmian; De Rossi, Verratti, Pirlo, Marchisio, Candreva; Balotelli.

Costa Rica (4-4-1-1): Navas; Gonzalez, Umana, Duarte, Gamboa; Bolanos, Diaz, Tejeda, Borges; Ruiz; Campbell.

 Prediction:

The Costa Ricans will be on the defensive and are likely to park the bus to keep the Italian attack in check and will look to play some counter attack football. Italy will be frustrated by the underdog’s defense.

Final Score Prediction: Costa Rica 1-1 Italy.
