City upset the Champions

Sergio Aguero, Vincent Kompany and Fernandinho sink Chelsea 3 – 0 in their Premier League fixture which took place this Sunday.

City were dominating the first half and Aguero managed to get past the keeper around the half an hour mark. Aguero and Yaya Toure exchanged passes, English defender Gary Cahill was ineffective in the situation as the Argentine drilled one past Begovic with a shot that went straight into the bottom-left corner.

Cesc Fabregas, who was making his 50th appearance, had an opportunity to equalize for Chelsea but, shot a little wide off the mark.

Chelsea’s high pressing game in the second half could have leveled the scores for them on the 70 minute mark but, the blues failed to do so as Hazard fired one straight at Hart.

Kompany, who scored a goal last week, scored one in a similar fashion by beating Ivanovic to get past the keeper with a near post header in the 79th minute. Fernandinho added another from the boundary of the box in the 85th minute, settling Chelsea’s fate.

Mourinho felt that City felt the heat during the second half, despite being the better side in the first. He also said that Toure as well as Fernadinho deserved a Red Card.

“In the first half the best team was winning, in the second the best team was Chelsea” Mourinho said, in a post-match interview to Chelsea’s official site. “We didn’t score and if the 1-0 result after the second half was an unfair result in my opinion, imagine 2-0 or 3-0. They were the best team in the first half, they controlled the game and created chances. We were comfortable on the ball but defensively we were quite fragile.”

“They felt the result was in danger; their first change was a control change, Navas for Nasri, the second was defensive, Sterling for Demichelis. At that moment they wanted to keep the 1-0 and they were having trouble keeping it. We were punished by our mistakes for the second and third goals and we couldn’t capitalise on the good second half we had.” The Portuguese Manager added.

Upon being questioned on his decision of taking John Terry out at Half time, Mourinho said: “I had to decide on John or Cahill because Zouma is the fastest player we have in our defensive line. When you are going to play with a high block and you are asking your players to do that, the fastest player has to be on the pitch.”

“The point was not to bring John out but to bring Zouma in. I’m the one that plays John every game, made him captain, brought him back from a difficult situation with other managers. I’m the one who has the right to look at the game and say I want Zouma on the pitch. I was losing 1-0, in minute 35 I was trying to anticipate what I was going to say to the players, and ask the players at half-time, and immediately I had Zouma warming up because it was clear to me he had to play.” He further added.

Chelsea have gathered just 1 point in their opening two fixtures, the Premier League champions will need to secure more points in the coming games to challenge for the Title this year as well.
