Liverpool's Daniel Sturridge joins the continuously growing list of casualties in this international break ruling him out of England's Euro 2016 qualifying opener against Switzerland. The Englishman has injured his thigh while training with England team at St. George's Park in Newcastle.
Although the extent of injury is still not known with some reports in British media state he may be out for 'three-four months'. If true it is detrimental to Liverpool's campaign as they will have only two front line forwards in Mario Balotelli and Sturridge's England teammate Rickie Lambert.
An FA Spokesman said: “Daniel Sturridge picked up an injury on his thigh in training.
"He has had a scan and will now return to Liverpool FC for treatment. He will play no part in the forthcoming Switzerland match.”
Manager Roy Hodgson has not called on any replacement for injured striker. This leaves them with captain Wayne Rooney, Rickie Lambert and Arsenal new boy Danny Welbeck as his attacking options in Basel.
