Atletico who where unbeaten in the last 5 away trips had already qualified for the Champions league round of 16 as they took on Juventus who where still yet to qualify. Juve on the other hand wanted a draw at least to make it to the next round as they got one against Atletico as both their countries respective champions made it to the next round.
Gigi Buffon had to make his first desperate save with his trailing hand after six minutes after a shot from Koke at the near post. While Fernando Llorente just failed to get the touch to a Pogba assist from six yards. Carlos Tevez saw his shot charged down by Diego Godin’s arm, but that wasn't intentional as no penalty was given after repeated calls.
Arturo Vidal gave away the ball in the 40min as he chashed back and then brought down Raul Garcia for the inevitable booking. That freekick resulted in a chanve for Atleticoas they had little or no ball in the first half, as Buffon palmed a Jose Maria Gimenez header out from under the bar.
It was all square at halftime.
As the game restarted, Atletico's Gabi tried to curl in directly from a corner and hit the outside of the near post with Buffon scrambling. The game went end to end as Pogba’s strike was charged down, then Moya made his first save on a Vidal snapshot after 57 minutes.
Juventus stepped up the pressure as they tried winning the game and secure their qualification. It was again Pogba who hit another screamer from distance was spilled by Moya, but Roberto Pereyra ballooned over from a corner and the goalkeeper was quick to capture a Vidal curler.
The game came to an end as either side, couldn't find the net as both of them qualified for round of 16.
