Mateo Musacchio suffers a ghastly injury

Vilarreal defender Mateo Musacchio suffered a horrific injury in the his side’s 1-1 draw with Getafe in Premiera Division game. The defender is set for a lengthy spells on sidelines.

The Argentine international tried to evade a robust challenge from Getafe’s Diego Castro. In this process he planted his lower leg into the turf and an awkward landing led to his lower leg to snap off. The early reports and tests showed that the player may have damaged his ankle.

The injury not only rules him out for the rest of the season but also kills all the chances of him representing Argentina in Copa America which takes place in June.

Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla, who played with Musacchio during his time at Villarreal, tweeted:

"A lot of best wishes to my friend Mateo, I hope it's not too serious.

"Wishing you all the strength for the recovery."

We wish Musacchio a very speedy recovery.
