Roma’s title chase is all but over as Sampdoria hit the nail on its head by defeating Roma 2-0 at Stadio Olympico. Roma was reduced to 10 men as Seydou Keita was saw red. Roma now are in a fix as bitter rivals Lazio are just a point behind them.
Roma started off the game on bright note and were the dominant side of the two in the first half and also had better of the chances in the game. For almost an hour it was all Roma show. Francesco Totti and Co led the way and looked like the team who will score first.
But it was Samuel Eto’o for the visitors who set up a super goal for De Silvestri who made no mistake to slot the ball past De Sanctis into Roma’s net. This goal just silenced Stadio Olympico which was buzzing till some time ago.
The goal stunned Roma as they completely lost their plot and went haywire. And finally Muriel hit the death blow as he caressed the ball into the net from close range, after his initial shot cannoned off the post.
The goal ended all the hopes of Roma salvaging anything from this match. The win leaves Roma 14 points off Juventus who sit atop Serie A and are on course for a fourth straight title.
