The young Scot who looked out of place, and already testing the patience of the Old Trafford faithful, became an easy target for those with tendency to scape goat others. With Fletcher the next thing to come out of the academy after Becks, it w almost that two of them were poles apart. With Becks flying high and cementing his place in the team, Fletcher struggled just earning himself negative publicity.
But to believe Darren Fletcher out lasted more than Beckham is astonishing. The reason his high octane challenges and never ending stamina is what earned him 342 appearances for Manchester United.
