And we are here just a few hours away from witnessing either Argentina or Germany lifting the World Cup. Germany is trying to win the World Cup for the fourth time as they won their third 24 years ago in 1990 while Argentina will hope to win it after their previous victory in 1986. The match is filled with completely contrasting with the Europeans defined as the perfect team while the South Americans being dubbed a one-man Army. Many pundits would go ahead and point out that the Bavarians will successfully win the tournament as the team that gave a 7-1 beating to Brazil is superior to Messi and co. in every department. It remains to be seen who will go down in the history books and we just have a few more hours to wait.

Players to look out for:

Two of the contenders for the Golden Boot: Lionel Messi and Thomas Mueller will go against each other and try to win the coveted individual achievement. This game is a clash of the giants with the impressive midfield of Toni Kroos, Mesut Ozil Mario Goetze pitted against just as much competent player in Javier Maschareno. Messi as usual will be pivotal in his team’s goal chances. The German backline will be on watch as they will have to curb the danger that the little magician can pose.

Teams head-to-head:

The two teams have faced each other 20 times with Argentina winning 9 and Germany winning 6 of the clashes. 5 games have ended in draws.

Probable line-ups:

Germany (4-3-3): Neuer; Lahm, Hummels, Boateng, Höwedes; Khedira, Schweinsteiger, Kroos; Özil, Müller, Götze.

Argentina (4-2-3-1): Romero; Zabaleta, F Fernández, Garay, Rojo; E Perez, Mascherano; Palacio, Messi, Lavezzi; Higuaín.

Prediction:

On paper Germany has the most complete of the other with every player having performed exceptionally compared to Argentina’s hand full of them. The Europeans are favorites to lift the trophy a fourth time.

Final Score Prediction: Argentina 1 – 2 Germany.
