In midst of all the transfer hullabaloo there is one thing that no media house or website have talked about and that is what Paul Pogba brings tactically to the already brilliant Chelsea team if this transfer materializes.
We today take a look at how Chelsea could line up, bearing in mind that should Pogba sign with Jose Mourinho's team.
Financial Aspect:
First things first, Chelsea need to have an unlimited cash reserve to go for an player of Pogba's quality, and undeniably Chelsea do posses loads of it. Juventus who have sold Vidal, Pirlo this summer with Claudio Marchisio being the only other experienced player in midfield, would look to milk as much as they can for a talent like Paul.
The fee being mentioned right now is close to £70m which is almost £10m more than what Manchester United paid for Di Maria. There is a possibility that the deal could involve players from Chelsea with Allegiri already mentioning his liking for Oscar and Willian.
Tactical:
Having lost Michael Essien, Michael Ballack and Frank Lampard over the last few years, the team from South of London are in the look out for player who could fill in the void for those world class players who have played wearing the royal blue. In Nemanja Matic, Jose Mourinho has an able central defensive midfielder who on his day can turn the run of play against any team single handedly.
The recent purchase of Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona has sparked an aura of magic around Chelsea's midfield. With the Spaniard able to find players from anywhere on the pitch, it has seen him come close to Theiry Henry's record of 20 assist a season.
But what Chelsea lack is the goals from midfield, one which used to come from their highest goal scorer in their history ala Frank Lampard. And when we compare Paul Pogba with Frank Lampard we know it's not quite right for the English man who holds such a high stature at the club. With current midfield lacking on goals the dependency on Eden Hazard and Diego Costa is too high.
What Paul Pogba brings to Chelsea's midfield is not just goals but the stability and the shape which Ramires, Mikel and Oscar have failed to provide. In a 4-3-3 set up, a midfield of Matic-Pogba-Cesc is just near perfection. It brings back memories of those games where Chelsea used to have a midfield trio of Essien Ballack and Lampard with Essien setting, Ballack providing the creativity and Lampard providing the side with goals.
The Deal Breaker:
Juventus who have had a brilliant run in the Champions league last season, have lost Vidal, Pirlo and Tevez with either wanting to leave for new experience or other reasons. On the other hand the club have handed over their iconic number 10 jersey to youngster Paul Pogba who they see as the future of the club and want to build the team around him.
But all is not lost for Chelsea, with manager Allegeri already expressing his liking for Chelsea's Oscar and Willian over the summer, their is a slight hope that the club might get on the negotiation table if the offer from English Champions seem to match their expectation. With three days for the transfer window to end, we might just be looking a at a deadline day swoop in Roman Abramovich style.
