He is one of the best play breakers or in more simple terms, a defensive midfielder to ever grace the game. The Italian was a no nonsense midfielder who was known for his hard tackling and burst of energy late in the game.
He was a mainstay in midfield for Milan where he plied his trade for most of his career. His tactical astuteness and tenacious style made him the ideal partner to Andrea Pirlo in midfield. Gattuso was nicknamed as Ringhino which roughly translates to Growl in English, for his barbaric style of play.
Rino had his glory moment when he won 2006 World Cup with the Azzuri and he was their key player throughout the tournament. He suffered vision problems later on in his career thus cutting down his playing career by 3-4 years.
Gattuso ventured into management as well albeit with almost no success to call for. Currently he is seeking a career in managing.
