Transfer Record Breakers

A list of the Top Ten Record breaking transfers after 95' which includes both the Ronaldo's, Alan Shearer and other greats.

1. Gareth Bale [Spurs-Real Madrid] £86m

Gareth Bale on the back of stellar 2012/13 season earned his big money move to Real Madrid. The signing was more or less the show of strength by Real to their rivals Barcelona, who had signed wonder kid Neymar in earlier in the summer.

2. Cristiano Ronaldo [Manchester United-Real Madrid] £80m

This signing was straight from the Mills and Boons! A match made in heaven as both the player and the club were longterm admirers of each other.

3. Kaka [AC Milan-Real Madrid] £56m

Signed a week before Ronaldo, Kaka was part of Manuel Pellegrini's ambitious La Decima Galectico project. He was subject to another record breaking bid from Manchester City who offered £100m for the player. But he chose Santiago Bernabeu over cash of Etihad.

4. Zinedine Zidane [Juventus-Real Madrid] £46m

The man who kick started the Galetico project by Florentino Perez. He also started Los Blanco's reign as world record breakers for transfer fees in the coming years.

5. Luis Figo [Barcelona-Real Madrid] £37m

A coup by Perez to lure the then World Player of the Year from bitter rivals Barcelona. He is, by many, regarded as the first Galectico.

6. Hernan Crespo [Parma-Lazio] £30m

Crespo was one of the top names in Serie A in late 90's. This was a statement of intent by Lazio after selling their prized asset in Vieri to Inter a summer before.

7. Christian Vieri [Lazio-Inter Milan] £28m

A classic case of doing the business the right way. Having bought Vieri for Atletico Madrid a season ago, Lazio sold him to Inter for nearly double of what they paid for him the next season!

8. Deñilson [Sao Paolo-Real Betis] £20m

This transfer record had more Boo's than Aah's. He was one of the upcoming talents in Brazil but Betis just went over the top the Brazilian in turn shocking everyone.

9. Ronaldo [Barcelona-Inter Milan] £17m

Ronaldo was perhaps one of the best players to grace the game and he befitted a record transfer. £17m seems too low what Madrid paid Inter but it is still a record nonetheless.

10. Alan Shearer [Blackburn Rovers-Newcastle United] £15m

He is the first British player to cross £10m mark and also to be bought for world record transfer fee.
