The United States of America start their World Cup 2014 campaign against Ghana. Manager Jurgen Klinsmann had earlier taken a risk dropping their most experienced player Landon Donovan and now’s the time to find out whether this huge gamble pays off or not. This is also the third straight World Cup where the two teams face-off against each other. Klinsmann’s side will have to play the game to win as this is as easy as it gets for his side as facing the other two sides in the Group of Death will definitely not yield positive results. The USA will be looking for revenge while the Africans will be hoping to pull a third victory over the Americans. Ghana boasts a good squad and are the only African nation expected to move onto the knock out stages.
Players to look out for:
Kevin Prince Boateng, a regular in Bundesliga side Schalke’s line-up will try to replicate his performance in 2010 against the same opponent. Asamoah Gyan, just two goals shy of being Africa’s highest scorer in World Cup, will be optimistic to pull it off; hence he’s one to watch out for. The midfield of Michael Essein and Sulley Muntari will be two other prospects to look for.
Among the Americans, there’s the captain Clint Dempsey looking to score goals with his midfield tactics. Premier League’s most successful goalkeepers Tim Howard, though, will attempt to fend off Ghana’s attack. DaMarcus Beasley another senior player in the line-up with also try to up his country’s chances of making it to the next round.
Team head-to-head:
The two teams have played 4 games between them of which Ghana have been victorious in all the games.
Predictions:
The USA has always fell short facing the African side. They were pitted against the Ghana side in their previous two world cups but have lost on both those occasions.
Final Score Predictions: USA 1- 2 GHANA
