Thierry Henry was the featured guest for #5 mag's special interview. It was a freewheeling chat between the two greats of the game in Rio Ferdinand and Thierry Henry.
The focus of this section of the interview was on the modern day attackers. Henry, himself was a prolific scorer in his heydays. So it was all more juicier to hear what a striker thinks of his modern contemporaries.
He went on to praise his ex teammate at Barcelona Lionel Messi whom he considers a freak while Ronaldo isn't far from that standard.
"Messi is just a freak. It is nice for kids to watch as they can see one guy who was given a gift and the other guy who does it through hard work." He refers to Ronaldo as more of a hard worker than a born natural.
" Louis Saha used to tell me Ronaldo was the hardest worker at Manchester United. I am not saying Messi does not work hard - but it is more natural,” he adds.
"Ronaldo had to work really hard to reach the top. They have the same mentality but that's the difference," said Henry.
When probed by Rio on who he considers the best striker in the world he chose a maverick in Luis Suarez.
"If we are talking about strikers - not
guys who score a lot of goals from anywhere - then I would say the best in the world is Luis Suarez,” insists Henry.
He is of opinion that the Uruguayan is a complete forward who has all the desired skills with a dash of madness.
“He has everything. He's in your face, he's arrogant in a good way, he can volley it, he can score headers. He has that vicious side to his game. I will not call it cheating. He knows how to score goals. We have seen it against England. They gave him two chances and he scored two goals."
