David Moyes took his Real Sociedad side to the legendary Real Madrid
stadium where the away side scored a the first goal, to the surprise of the
home team.
But everything lasted for just a few minutes, before Real Madrid the club
football champions took matter in their hands and went to on to win it 4-1
in the end.
In the midst of all this, the game wasn't short of controversy. With
Ronaldo suspended, all the eyeballs were on Gareth Bale, who unfortunately jumbled his lines and missed two clear cut open chance, just to end up empty handed.
The home crowd though wasn't so giving in the end, with a section of people even booing the welshman in the end. With United keeping an eye on him, the scenario could change very quickly.
But the former United manager was all praise for Real Madrid:
‘We gave ourselves a platform but there was no time to build it on. I don’t
think we touched the ball between scoring and their equaliser,’ said Moyes,
who added: ‘At times we couldn’t lay a glove on them. I’ve seen the best
team in the world today. They are world [club] champions and they played
that way today especially in the first half.’
