Harry Redknapp resigning from QPR after undergoing his knee surgery is not news at this point now but the circumstances in which he left the Ranger’s is strange. The Englishman said in his official statement that,
"I need immediate surgery," said Redknapp. "If I can't give 100%, it's better for someone else to take over."
Now this sounds quite fishy considering that QPR is having a disastrous season and also there was an impending axe on him, if reports from the press were anything to go by, he also had a shambolic January window where he failed to get a single player as they failed to bolster their floundering squad.
There are reports that Tony Fernandes and the board’s failure to back him in the transfer market triggered his decision to quit the job. Although he has officially denied it but it is very hard to ignore the circumstances in which the QPR is now.
In these two years, Harry Redknapp could have left Rangers anytime he wished but this turns out to be the worst time to leave the club considering their precarious situation. Queens Park Rangers are 19th in the league and also the bookies favourite to go down at the end of the season.
QPR's Premier League record under Redknapp
It seems he lost the confidence on board as the London club failed to sign any of the Redknapp’s preferred players on the deadline day. QPR was linked to Emmanuel Adebayor, Matt Jarvis and Aaron Lennon but none of them arrived.
No new contract beyond end of season & a team he didn't have the energy to turnaround convinces Redknapp to quit QPR
