Arsenal sign Southampton youngster Calum Chambers

Jul 30, 2014 14:33

Arsenal became the latest club to rob Southampton of a player as they signed the 19-year-old for a fee said to be around £16 million.

With the signing Arsenal broke their bank to spend past their £50 million transfer budget on a player that has just 18 Premier League games to his name.

The player is said to have signed a deal for about 4 years. He made himself available after his signing as he spoke to the Gunners’ official website and shared his excitement.

He said: “I am so happy to be signing for Arsenal. They are a team I have much admired for their playing style, and a team who have been one of the top sides in Europe for many years.

“I'm looking forward to joining up with my new team-mates today and beginning preparation for the season ahead.

"I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to everyone at Southampton FC for everything they have done for me and for making this move possible," said Chambers.
