Fahim Fakhi’s twin strikes help Trashers triumph


Mumbai: Consistent scorer Fahim Fakhi once again produced the goods which helped Trashers, Kalina lift the Late Darryl Crasto Memorial Trophy for men in the Catholic Gymkhana’s annual rink football tournament. The sharpshooter Fakhi , scored two crucial goals, one in each half as Trashers overcame Bombastic Rockies 2-1 in a pulsating men’s open final, played at the gymkhana’s floodlit grounds, Marine Drive. Franco S. netted Rockies lone goal in the first half.

Fahim Fakhi scored both the goals as Trashers overcame Bombastic Rockies 2-1 in the men’s final for the Late Darryl Crasto Memorial Torphy.


Earlier, in the women’s final for the Late Dereyk De Souza Trophy, U.K. United recorded an upset 1-0 win against formidable Bodyline SC with striker Neha Ture scoring the all-important winning goal in the opening minutes of the match.

Neha scored the winner as U.K. United defeated Bodyline SC 1-0 in the women’s final for the Late Dereyk De Souza Trophy.


Later in the evening, St. Joseph’s, Juhu held their nerves to prevail over Golden Boys, Malad 3-0 via the tie-breaker to clinch the Late Neville D’Souza Memorial Trophy for veterans.

Fahim Fakhi of Trashers, Neha Ture of U.K. United and Connie Pereira of St. Joseph’s, were all later adjudged as the player of the tournament in their respective categories.


Results – Women (final): U.K. United 1 (Neha Ture) beat Bodyline FC 0.


Veterans – Final: St. Joseph, Juhu 4 (Robert Kunnel, Anslem Creado,Sanjay Creado) beat Golden Boys, Malad 0. 5 (Shobit Shetty 2, Francis Fernandes 2, Philip D’Souza) beat Mumbai Boxers Semi-finals: St. Joseph, Juhu 4 (Connie Pereira, Sanjay Creado, Robert Kunnel, Dennis Creado) beat Golden Gunners 3 (Jonathan Fernandes, Saby D’Souza, Osburn D’Souza); Golden Boys, Malad 5 (Shobit Shetty 2, Francis Fernandes 2, Philip D’Souza) beat Mumbai Boxers 3 (Anil Amolik, Ram Nair, Fazal Shaikh).


Men’s (final): Kalina Trashers 2 (Fahim Fakhi 2) beat Bombastic Rockies 1 (S. Franco). Semi-finals: Kalina Trashers 5 (Anthony Machado 2, Abu Shaikh, Russell Galbano, Cedric D’Mello) beat Xaveierites SC 1 (Reegan Misquitta); Bombastic Rockies 3 (S. Franco, Parag Sawant, Malcolm B) beat Kalina Village Boys 2 (Reed Santos 2).
