Thierry Henry who is set to put an end to his four end a half year stay in New York as he has decided not to renew his contract with the American club.
At the age of 37 and almost 20 years of professional football under his belt, could Henry decide to never play football again? Or can he emulate his former team and friend Robert Pires and join the ISL bandwagon next season?
In today's press conference Wenger spoke about Henry in detail:
Wenger: Thierry Henry WILL return to Arsenal... but not as a...
'Certainly one day he will come back here,' said Arsenal manager Wenger. 'In what role, I don't know. That is what he has to think about, what direction he wants to go in.
'What I understand is that he wants to reflect for a while on how he wants to go into his next life.
'The only thing I would like to say is that I made him start at the age of 17 in Monaco, he is today 37 so he had 20 years of competitive football and that deserves high respect and congratulations - not only for what he achieved but also on his attitude and his focus on football.
'He has the right to reflect and think of what he wants to do now.
'He is an Arsenal man. It was the best moment certainly of his life and of his career has been experienced here.'
Wenger does not expect the former France international to continue his playing career. 'I don't think he wants to carry on,' he said. 'He has given a lot and has come out with an image that is fantastic.'
Henry has spoken in the past of his desire to go into coaching when his playing days are over.
'He is intelligent, committed, he loves the game,' said Wenger. 'He just has to think: "Do I want to sacrifice all the rest of my life to be involved in that job?"'
