India played a tough first match in a 2 series friendly against Pakistan. A friendly, with nothing other than a goal to separate both teams who showed an equal will to win the game. Pakistan started better and enjoyed better possession through the match, but the Indians were a little more emotionally charged playing to a home crowd at Bangalore.
Being a match between arch rivals, some level of roughness was to be expected. The crowds were not disappointed in this aspect seeing some tough tackles put in from time to time by both sides.
India Takes the Lead!! A superb goal by Sunil Chhetri in the 44th minute - India's biggest name in football currently does it once again for his country!
And Robin Singh ears a second yellow which results in a Red Card?, India down to 10 men. Although it would be said that in the last 20 minutes, inspite of being a man down India was the better team for 10 minutes.
Pakistan threw away some easy chances that could have seen them force a draw.
India managed to hold on to the single goal advantage and showed some resilient defending in the final third.
India are currently ranked at 150 and Pakistan at 164 in the FIFA International Rankings. The second game will be played midweek.?
