Kerala Blasters absolutely blasted Chennaiyin FC away as they drubbed the table toppers by 3 goals.
A capacity crowd of 60,000 people turned up to witness the first ever Semi finals of the India Super League. With the stadium absolutely brimming with fans, Kerala Blasters had brilliant backing to look forward to for the next 90mins. On the other hand neighbors and table toppers Chennaiyin Fc looked confident as they stood calm before the kick off.
But the game had Kerala win written all over it, with Chennai coach Materrazi starting on the bench and Kerala keeper also out with an injury, Kerala had an upper hand.
Both teams started attacking from the word go but it was the home side who got the breakthrough with two quick goals. With Kerala taking the lead in the 24th min.
Leagues highest scorer Elano Blumer was back into the Chennai side after his time in the sidelines. But Elano hardly had any impact as he was replaced by his stopgap Bruno Pelissari.
Ishfaq and Kerala had their first goal in the semi final leg as a defence splitting pass was played through and Ishfaq shot it home. With 60k cheering, Kerala scored another this time it was captain Ian Hume.
It was two nil with 4 mins. Kerala fans couldn't believe it, they were beating the side who had topped the table and conceded the least goals.
Chennai had a couple.of chances, but just couldn't turn them home, with Silvester coming closest to scoring.
Kerala extended their lead and put themselves in a great position, for qualifying to the finals.
