The stage is set for the two best sides in India to go for glory. Mumbai’s DY Patil stadium will be buzzing with fleets of yellows and rojiblancos singing their hearts out. Finally, we will have the first champion of Indian Super League.
Kerala Blasters or Atletico de Kolkata! It’s too tight to call but we’re going to stick our neck out for this grand daddy game of Indian football.
Key Battles
Colin Falvey vs Mohammed Rafi
Rafi is going to be very crucial for Kolkata as they are already without their preferred striker Fikru Terfera. The Indian striker will lead the line for the Kolkatans. He has enough experience of big games as he has played in Kolkata derby and also in Durrand Cup finals. But tonight it’s a different ball game altogether. Falvey has been a rock for David James’ tactical side and it is expected that he will bring in his league form into the final. This battle is very crucial from Kolkata’s point of view as this is what everyone considers their weak link.
Iain Hume vs Josemi
Iain Hume has been immense for the Blasters throughout the season and especially in big games where he has led from the front in absence of David James. The Canadian forward is a complete package and can trouble the best of the defences. But he will be up against Kolkata’s Josemi, who was their star man in the semis against FC Goa. He bailed out his side from trouble with his last ditch defending and no nonsense approach.
Players to watch
Kerala
Sandesh Jhinghan –
The teen sensation has been by far the best young player of the ISL. And he will be looking to taste some success in his young years. Add to it that Atleti are little susceptible out wide, this is perfect for Jhinghan to flourish and propel his side to glory.
Kolkata
Apoula Edel Bete – He was their man of the match in both the legs of semifinals. And he will be looking to continue in the same vein of form.
TFM predicts a 1-0 win for Kerala Blasters.
