With Rodgers clearly making changes to his side. Jordan Ibe didn't make the squad due to an injury, with Moreno retained his place in the team.

For City Yaya Toure was back in the line up after not able to play in the European competition due to a 3 game suspension. Aguero and Dzeko started up front as they tried to out score Liverpool.

It was Coutinho who was proving to be unstoppable. The little man from Brazil was everywhere. With Liverpool completely in command, vice captain and stand in captain Henderson scored a brilliant goal to put his side a goal ahead.

But City side got back in as they tried to create their chances with David silva and Samir nasri doing all the work india attacking third. there are effects proved to be fruitful as Dzeko score the equaliser for Manchester City. Both the sides went into half time at one all.

The home side liverpool started the second half better, Philippe Coutinho looking devastating. Manchester City rang the changes as Pellegrini brought in James Milner for some more grip in the midfield. But it was Coutinho who scored against the run of play as Liverpool led by a goal.
