Today we shift our focus from Serie A to Ligue 1 the french league. From Juventus to Marseille, and from Roma to Lyon.
We start with the Ligue one leaders Marseille, who changed their manager in summer and appointed Bielsa as their head coach. For sometime now, this season's title race has looked like a two horse race, with Marseille and defending champions PSG going toe to toe.
But Bielsa side who had a stumble last week were back to winning ways as they opened a 2 point gap at the top of the table.
As we shift focus from the leaders and put the spotlight on number to team on the table, it isn't PSG its a team who have capitalized on PSG's poor form - Lyon. Lyonnais threw their hat into the ring with a five star display propelled by their striker Lacazatte and their play maker Nabil Fekir. If Lyon could maintain their form after the new year they could well be in with a chance.
A blip for capital side PSG lately has led to them being pipped to second place over the holidays. The draw against Montpelier and has left a sour taste in the Parisian's mouth. PSG will be hoping 2015 does not begin in the same way 2014 drably ended.
St Etienne, As Monaco and Bordeaux all form the part of the chasing pack with St Etienne just 5 points short of leaders Marseille and Monaco and Bordeaux chasing the European spot the second half of the campaign would be brilliant with slip up and more teams competing for a place in Europe.
But if their is one team who have punched above their weight and done really well for their limited budget it is Nantes.
2012 Champions Montpelier have been an disappointment so far, as they have struggled to find any sort of form.
Lens, Metz, Evian, Bastia and Caen are all fighting battles for their survival with 4 out of five team in the same number of points with Caen 3 off Bastia.
