Liverpool’s woeful run continues as they surrender their two goal lead to a spirited Leicester side who score two goals within two minutes to snatch a valuable away point from Anfield.
Liverpool were awarded two controversial first half penalties in first half by the referee Mike Jones which led to two goals by Steven Gerrard from the spot. Wes Morgan was penalized for handling the ball which he didn’t. Raheem Sterling’s cross struck the Foxes defender smack on the face. The bizarre piece of refereeing was highly criticized by the Leicester manager Nigel Pearson.
Leicester showed immense character as they scored two quickfire goals to snatch the game back from Liverpool’s clutches. David Nugent opened the scoring for the Foxes but it was Schlupp’s screamer which sealed the deal for the visitors.
There were chances flowing thick and fast at the both ends from then on. Liverpool were again claiming for a penalty against Wes Morgan’s foul on Fabio Borini but Jones didn’t award it. Maybe out of guilt or maybe he didn’t see it closely. Leicester deserved a point nonetheless.
