Bayern were reduced to 10 men in the 20th minute as Mehdi Benatia saw red for a 50-50 challenge. Sergio Aguero gave the hosts lead against the run of play through a penalty in 28th minute.
The Bavarians stormed into a lead with two quick fire goals in the span of five minutes as imperious Xabi Alonso and Robert Lewandowski scored for the hosts in the last five minutes of the first half.
City were completely on back foot till Aguero rose to the occasion. He took advantage of Alonso's goof up to bring City level in 71st minute. Bayern looked like to snatch back their lead within moments of Aguero's equalizer but Joe Hart chipped in with a superb save to deny them.
