Chelsea dropped points at Old Trafford as Robin van Persie snatched a 94th minute equalizer for the hosts. Branislav Ivanovic saw red as Chelsea were down to 10 men deep into stoppage time.

Both teams started match with a positive intent as they looked to get an advantage over their rivals, who dropped points this week. Didier Drogba made his first start as Diego Costa could not make in time for the match.

Chelsea got their first chance early in the 6th minute as Eden Hazard skipped past Rafael but Chris Smalling made a crucial interception. United to got their chance within a minute as Juan Mata set up Angel Di Maria who ballooned it over the post.

Robin van Persie missed a one on one chance as Thibaut Courtois had his angles covered. Didier Drogba too missed a golden opportunity. First half ended on an exciting note as both the teams played a solid half.

The second half was more about Chelsea. They got more solid at the back as they got back their usual compactness. Eden Hazard missed a sitter as David de Gea stood his ground to make a stunning save. But, United backline’s fragility was exposed in the following corner as Didier Drogba headed the ball home off a Cesc Fabregas corner.

Chelsea went into cruise control after scoring the goal in 53rd minute. The hosts started to look a bit more potent as the game drew close. Chelsea planned to shut shop as they made two defensive changes. Branislav Ivanovic committed a foolish foul on Angel Di Maria to earn his second yellow in 93rd minute. The resulting freekick by Di Maria was directed to Marouanne Fellaini whose initial effort was saved but Robin van Persie latched on to the rebound in a flash and thumped the ball home.
