Mou praises Swansea City

Jose Mourinho appreciates the amount of work put in by Gary Monk for Swansea. Mourinho’s Chelsea face Monk’s Swansea at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday, where the London based side begin their title defence. The Portuguese believes that Swansea are a top flight club and their performances have been proving the very same.

"It's a difficult kick-off to the season for us," Mourinho said. "He's doing very well and the club is doing magnificently".

"Garry's got a good team already but he's improved the team,” Mourinho added "It's a very good team and he's a very good young manager at a club that I admire a lot."

"I left the Premier League [in 2007] with Swansea in the Championship," Mourinho further said. "I came back to England a few years later with Swansea not only in the Premier League but a stable and strong club in the Premier League."

This is Swansea’s fifth term since they clinched promotion to the Premier League in 2011 via the Championship play-off final. Franck Tabanou, Kristoffer Nordfeldt, Andre Ayew and Eder have all been signed by Swansea in order to help them progress further in the league. Gary Monk, who took over from Michael Laudrup in Feb 2014 as the Interim Manager has guided Swansea well. The former Southampton defender signed a three year deal when his side broke their record of maximum points secured in one season (56 points).
