Cooperage which was under renovation for the past three years, was reopened by AIFF president Mr. Praful Patel and was handed over to Mumbai FC for their I League matches. Cooperage which has a history if being a part of India football for more than 70 odd years has helped Mumbai FC with their wins as fans have filled the stadium to cheer the local side.
But the start to season wasn't as rosey, with three away matches scheduled for the side from Mumbai they lost all three. First was at Indian footballing giants Mohun Bagan. Soon the match against North East side Lajong followed where the team lost to a small margin with heads held high.
With the trips to north east of the country done, it was time for the side to meet their local rivals and in-form side Pune FC. The side from Pune were on the brink of some incredible football having acquired maximum points from their first two games. With the highly expected derby standing true to its expectations the game rather ended on a disappointing note for the team from Industrial capital of India.
But it was time for redemption as the side looked for results and for them not the hard work did pay off, with the games at Cooperage proving to be decisive. Starting with the draw against Sporting Goa which was the clubs first game on the newly renovated FIFA approved pitch.
But it was the win against Salgaocar his has kick started they run of positive form. A emphatic 3-0 win against the Goan side, has been followed by wins against Royal Wahingdoh and the newly started Bharat FC.
