Juventus and Barcelona made it to the last two spots of this season's Champions league quarter finals yesterday. The round ended with no English team making it to the last 8 which is the second time in the last three years. The last time this happened was in 1996.

10 time champions and the holders of the cup made it by the tooth, with German side Schalke coached by Mr.Robberto Di Matteo almost put the tie into the favor of his team.

Spanish rivals and league toppers FC Barcelona made to the round of 8 as they made easy work of English Champions Manchester City with Messi almost playing as if he was teasing his opposition.

There for no lucky or success for Jose Mourinho's Chelsea too as they slipped to away goal rule which knocked them out of the cup. With Brazilian duo of Luiz and Silva making up for their showing at the world cup.

AS Monaco the weakest side where handed a draw with Arsenal with the Gooners rejoicing a visit to their manager former club, but it turned out all sore with Monaco coming out all guns blazing and winning the first leg at Emirates by 3-1 with wrapping up the game on away goals rule.

Bayern Munich walked off with a dominating performance at their home as they drubbed Shakter by seven goals after a goalless first leg.

Last year semi finalist Atletico Madrid again made their way to the round of 8 after a hard fought win against Leverkusen.

In a repeat of 1997 finals, Dortmund met Juventus, but this time it was the Italians who won it. Juve who are top of the table crushed Dortmund 3-1 at Signal Iduna Park.

Lastly, Porto the 2004 winners of the cup made it to last eight defeating Swiss side Basel 5-1 on agg.
