Real Madrid vs Atletico Madrid Match Preview

The Madrid derby returns to iconic Santiago Bernabeu after a grilling first leg in Vincente Calderon. Real welcome their capital rivals for the second leg of Champions League quarterfinals. The first leg saw Atleti survive by the last shred of their nail as Blancos ran rampantly over their city neighbours only to be denied by poor finishing and dogged defending.

Roji Blancos will look to settle the tie in Bernabeu to continue tjeir winning streak of seven games against Real.

Team News

Real Madrid are jolted by injuries to two of their key players in Luka Modric and Gareth Bale. Both of them picked up knocks in Real’s win over Malaga on weekend. Modric is out for six weeks due to knee injury while Bale will miss out on action for three weeks due to a calf injury.

This means introduction of Isco and Illara in those respective positions.

Atleti don’t have any new injury concerns but will be without suspended Mario Suarez who picked up a booking in the first leg. Raul Garcia may return to the starting lineup.

Probable Lineups

Real Madrid - Casillas; Carvajal, Ramos, Pepe, Arbeloa; Kroos, Isco, Illarramendi; Ronaldo, Benzema, James

Atletico Madrid - Oblak; Juanfran, Godin, Miranda, Siqueira; Gabi, Koke, Tiago; Turan, Mandzukic, Griezmann
