Wolfsburg beat Dortmund in DFB Pokal Final
Dortmund lost to Wolfburg in the German Cup’s final. Dortmunds’ Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Wolfsburgs’ Luiz Gustavo, Kevin De Bryune and Bas Dost managed to get their name on the goal scorers list. Wolfsburg struck thrice in 16 minutes to make a comeback from behind in fashionable manner.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang put BVB into the lead after five minutes, when he received an accurate cross from Shinji Kagawa. The Striker then beat the offside trap to volley the cross and give Dortmund the lead. Mitchell Langerak did well to deny De Bruyne.
Marcos Reus had the chance to increase Dortmund’s lead but failed to keep his shot down after Aubameyang had broken free down the right.
Naldo’s clever curving Free-kick forced Langerak use his palm. Unable to handle the shot, the keeper gave the ball away Luiz Gustavo’s feet, who did well to score the equalizer for Wolfsburg.
Just after the half an hour mark, Kevin De Bruyne’s 25-yard effort beat the keeper. The Belgian took a shot from quite a distance but did well to get past Langerak.
Just Five minutes later, Bas Dost headed home an Ivan Perisic's cross making the scoreline 3 – 1 in Wolfsburg’s favour. Dortmund tried to respond but Aubameyang fired wide when found by Kagawa again shortly before the break.
Dortmund failed to win the match and the cup and ended their season on a low. With Jurgen Klopp leaving his post as the head coach of Dortmund, this is definitely not the send off the Club would have wanted to give. All the goals in the game in the first half itself.
