So finally, the great rumor turned into reality. Angel seems to be getting to wear the Red Manchester Jersey after all. We have a list of the ten things you’d surely want to know about Angel Di Maria if you are a die-hard Manchester United fan!

1. Angel Di Maria was born to Miguel and Diana on Valentine’s Day in 1988 and hails from the same city where his compatriot superstar, Lionel Messi was born; which is Rosario in Argentina.


2. Di Maria’s father was set to play for River Plate before he was prevented by an injury.


3. Angel’s parents worked in a coal yard and he helped them for 5 years as a child.


4. Di Maria joined local side Rosario Central at the age of seven and signed his professional contract at the age of 17.


5. Angel scored 6 goals from the 39 games he played for the Centrals’ before moving to Benfica for a reported fee of 8M Euros.




6. Di Maria came close to joining Rubin Kazan, before eventually deciding to move to Portugal. Di Maria won one league title and two league cups during his time with Benfica.


7. Di Maria is nicknamed as 'Fideo', the Noodle, on account of his skinny physique.


8. As a youngster Di Maria’s idol was Kily González, the former Valancia and Inter winger, who was predominantly left-footed player just like Di María.



9. Di Maria has a Spanish quote inked onto his left underarm which says “to be born in El Perdriel was and will be the best thing that has ever happened to me in my life” which he got along with his 6 closest friends when he left home for Portugal.
