5 Things You Should Know About Romania Before Euro 2016

Did you know that Romania’s National Football Team were knocked out of Euro’s Quarter Finals? Or that they haven’t lost a match in the Euro 2016 Qualifiers? The TriColorii or The Tri Colour as the side’s affectionately known by their fans have qualified for the 2016 edition of Euro’s as Runners up of Group F, comfortably securing their place with 20 points or 4 points above 3^rd place Hungary! Romania secured their place in the finals with 5 wins and 5 draws while conceding only 2 goals! They Defeated former winner Greece in both fixtures and defeated group winners Northern Ireland in the 2 – 0! They also scored 11 goals and finished with the highest goal difference in the group.

2) Closest To Glory

Romania finished as the winners of group 7 (above Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal, who eventually reached the Semis) scoring 25 goals and securing 24 points from 10 matches! They then Won, Drew And Lost 1 Match each during the finals group stages! Securing a point Against Oliver Kahn’s Germany and 3 Against David Beckham’s England in those 3 matches. They then lost 2 – 0 to Italy in the Quarter Finals, a match where Italian legends, Filippo Inzaghi and Francesco Totti scored against them.

3) Road To Qualifiers

The Romanian team started well when they defeated former winners Greece in their first match, they then managed to win 3 of their next 4 matches securing 13 points in just 5 fixtures! However, their next 4 matches ended in a draw, leaving them a little above 3^rd placed Hungary. The Tricolorii (The Tri-Colour) secured their place in the finals with a game to go but a convincing 3 – 0 victory over Faroe Islands helped them end their qualifiers on a high note.
