Kingsley Coman recently scored against his former side Juventus in their Champions League match against Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich. Did you know that the French International has played for PSG, Juventus and Bayern Munich at the tender age of 19! Let’s find out more about the Winger who was rightfully backed by none other than Pep Guardiola himself.
1. He has played for France at all levels after the under 16’s
The Young Prodigy has played 41 matches for France including 2 Senior side appearances since 2011. He has also scored 8 goals for the International sides in all his appearances. His international debut came against Germany on the 5th of November 2015 however, it was marred by the Paris Shootings incident.
More than 40 appearances for France before the age of 20? He’s definitely headed for success!
2. Joachim Löw is a fan!
Germany’s National Football Team’s coach Joachim Löw is a fan of the talented winger. Low stated that the young Frenchman is difficult to control and praised him ambidextrous qualities. His Compatriot Willy Sangnol has praised the young winger and has pointed out that the 19 year old resembles Frank Ribery on the pitch.
Oh! Erm… Pep is also a fan, he put his faith in the 19 year old to replace a world class winger (Frank Ribery) and his faith paid off well..!
3. He Almost Joined Arsenal FC
Arsene Wenger had previously stated that he had also bid for the player but the then PSG player preferred a move to Turin outfit Juventus. The Frenchman however, made just 15 appearances for the Serie A side before being shipped out to Bayer Munich.
Hmmmm… Wonder how his career would have turned out had he joined the gunners!
4. He was the fastest player in Bundesliga this season
He not only beat his teammates Arjen Robben, Frank Ribery and Douglas Costa but he also beat Dortmund Speedster Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. 35kmph! That’s how fast the 19 year old ran, leaving behind everyone in Bundesliga!
He is a speedster and a good dribbler! What an exciting prospect!!
5. His Loan Deal is Worth 7 million!
You read that correctly! His Loan deal which keeps him with Bavarian giants for 2 years is worth a staggering 7 Million Euros. That’s not all, they would need to shell out an additional 21 million Euros –shall Bayern decide to keep him after the loan duration!
That’s a lot of money and a lot of pressure but the youngster is doing well to cope up with it!
6. He Graduated From PSG’s Youth System
The French International graduated from the PSG’s youth academy and for their B team 16 times in the 2013 – 14 season, before making his side to their senior side in same season. He made just 4 appearances for the senior side before he was snapped up by Juventus. The Italian side signed the Frenchman on a free transfer after his contract with PSG ran out.
So, he Left French Champions for Italian Champions who ultimately loaned his to German Champions!
7. He has won 7 Trophies Already!
His Track record for winning silverware is spectacular and The Winger has won the Ligue 1 twice, Serie A, Coppa Italia, Supercoppa Italia, Coupe de la Ligue and Trophée des champions one time each. He won 4 trophies with PSG after making just 4 appearances! He won the remaining 3 with Juventus after making just 20 odd appearances!
He is likely to add 3 more to his tally… well, depends upon the rest of Bayern Munich’s season. They have done well so far!
