History say the Dutch will win

Argentina has been at a disadvantage when they have faced a Dutch side. As history shows they have won only one while succumbing to four defeats.

This is their fifth World Cup meeting and Netherlands have an upperhand going into this as they have won 2 and the South Americans, 1. But a breather for the Argentinians team is the fact that they will play under conditions they are comfortable with.

The last time the two teams met each other at such stage was during the 2006 World Cup in Germany which ended in a draw. The one before that was in 1998 where the Dutch emerged victorious winning the tie 2-1 in the Quarter Finals.

Here’s a highlight of the match:

Argentina and Netherlands have also met in the 1978 World Cup final which the former team won by a margin of 3-1. This is the only instance where the South Americans have had a comfortable victory against their present opponent.

The winners of this match will progress to the Finals while the losers will have to settle for a third place match against Brazil.
