Ajax 0-2 Barcelona Match Report

Ajax: Cillessen, Boilesen, Moisander, Veltman (red 71'), van Rhijn, Andersen (Riedewald 72'), Serero (Denswil 80'), Klaassen, Schöne, Sigthorsson (Milik 62'), El Ghazi

Barcelona: ter Stegen, Alba, Mascherano, Bartra, Alves (Adriano 83'), Busquets, Xavi, Rakitic (Rafinha 80'), Neymar (Pedro 75'), Messi, Suarez

Barcelona cruise into the next round as Lionel Messi scored a brace against Ajax in UEFA Champions League. Luis Suarez made his return to Amsterdam Arena after almost four years as he got a rousing reception from the home fans.

The match was completely Barca show as they toyed with this young Ajax side. Ajax simply didn’t have the class to match up to Luis Enrique’s superstars. Leo Messi opened the scoring for the visitors in 36th minute as he took full advantage of some horrible piece of goalkeeping from Jasper Cillesen.

Luis Suarez almost scored on his return to Ajax but the Uruguayan was having an off day. Ajax were down to 10 men as Joel Veltmen committed a silly challenge and saw red. Messi scored his record breaking goal with nice tap in off a Pedro cross.
