Gerard Pique was involved in a controversy recently which saw him insult two on duty police officers. The defender used some derogatory remarks and foul language as he insulted the officers.
The Spain international may have to go to court after being reported for insulting two police officers.
"You're jealous of me because I'm famous",
"I'm going to call your bosses and then you'll be in serious trouble" and
"You're a disgrace, your profession and the entire police force are a f****** disgrace" are just a handful of things La Vanguardia newspaper quotes the centre-back as having said.
But the FC Barcelona vice-president Jordi Cardoner stood by his player and downplayed the incident.
"We all make mistakes, but what's important is that he apologised", Barça vice-president Jordi Cardoner told Catalan television channel TV3.
"People should move on because it's something that's happened to the best of us. He deserves credit for having said sorry", the director added.
Jordi Alba also stuck up for his teammate at a press conference, stating,
"It happened in his private life and we all mess up sometimes. I'm no exception".
The Barça full-back downplayed the idea of the club fining Piqué and called the whole thing "a storm in a teacup".
Pique himself apologized as soon as the news broke out. He also blamed the media for exaggeration of the incident.
