Nike Academy defeat Barcelona u19s by 3 goals

Football is a game full of stories about the players who failed to make the grade. A career late bloomer or a late starter is what Nike are helping out. The player who have been rejected by the clubs are taken in and given world class training.

The Nike Academy which is based at St George's Park, specialists in finding and nurturing talent that has been rejected elsewhere.

The motto of the Academy, as per its website, is "to prepare young footballers for the professional game," which it does by offering "Full-time training. First class coaching. World class facilities at St George's Park. Pro club Academy opposition. Scouting and trial opportunities."

As we speak about pro club academy opposition they recently won their game against Barcelona's U19s. Not just a win a thumping 3-0 win, with the team appearing to be moving in the right direction.

The Nike team, coached by former Ireland, Wimbledon and Millwall striker Jon Goodman, not only beat a side from Barcelona's famed academy, La Masia, but took care of it 3-0 on its own patch.

The result will no doubt interest the scouts, who are sure to be checking out the Nike team in action a little more closely in the future.
