Bayern Munich 2-0 AS Roma Match Report

Bayern (3-4-3): Neuer; Benatia, Boateng, Alaba; Rafinha, Lahm, Xabi Alonso, Bernat; Gotze, Lewandowski, Ribery.

Roma (4-3-3): Skorupski; Torosidis, Manolas, Yanga-Mbiwa, Holebas; Nainggolan, De Rossi, Keita; Florenzi, Destro, Iturbe.

Pep’s Bayern storms into the round of 16 with a comfortable 2-0 win over Roma in Munich. Franck Ribery and Mario Goetze scored for the hosts.

Bayern played with an improvised version 3-4-3 with two wide midfielders. Roma played more traditional 4-3-3. The home side completely dominated the game from the word go.

The Bavarians got into the lead with a calm finish from Ribery in 38th minute when he had ample of time and space from the flanks. The first half came as a welcome respite for Rudi Garcia’s men.

Roma brought in Ashley Cole to bring some solidity into their defense but sadly it didn’t help much. Soon, Mario Goetze’s impressive agility gave Bayern the winner they were looking for. Robert Lewandowski’s smart cross was very well read by the German international.

Roma now sit in 2nd place in the group above CSKA Moscow and Man City and are favorites join Bayern post City’s shock defeat to CSKA at Etihad.
