Bernard does the trick for Kenkre FC
Mumbai, May 21: Striker Yao Bernard of Ivory Coast was in his elements scoring a brilliant hat-trick to steer Kenkre FC to a comfortable 4-2 victory over Maharashtra State Police in an Elite Division matches of the MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) League – 2014-15, played at the Goan Sports Association ground, Cross Maidan on Thursday. Bernard scored all the three goals in the first half before Shailesh Jadhav added the fourth in the second period. Himket Bimbre scored one in each half for the policemen.
The Ivorian Bernard who spearheaded the Kenkre attack did not take too long to make his presence felt firing home the opening goal in the very third minute and before the state cops could recover from that setback Bernard once again hit the target for the second goal in the 11th minute. He continued to torment the rival defence and struck the third goal in the 35th minute to complete his hat-trick.
The policemen fought on gamely and managed to reduce the deficit when Bimbre found the back of the net in the 40th minute as Kenkre went into the break with a 3-1 lead.
In the second period Kenkre maintained the momentum and added the fourth goal through Jadhav in the 65 minute before Bimbre netted his second four minutes later to give the cops a chance to make a fight back. But despite working hard they were unable to score more goals and had to finish on the losing side.
Results – Elite Div: Kenkre FC 4 (Bernard 3rd, 11th, 35th, Shailesh Jadhav 65th) beat Maharashtra State Police 2 (Himket Bimbre 40th, 69th).
