Antonio Conte decided to sign-off as the manager of Juventus after successfully leading them to three Serie A titles since his signing in 2011.
Now, former Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri has taken over amidst bursts of discontent from the Turin club’s fans.
However, with Allegri at the helm he will face a lot of pressure to deliver success the same way his predecessor did. He guided AC Milan to Scudetto in 2011 but they after losing lot of key players the club imploded and Allegri couldn’t deliver anymore which resulted in him getting fired in January this season.
Now let’s get to what Conte did to Juventus and what Allegri would do.
Conte was known to use a 3-5-2 formation in play for majority of the games than the usual 4-2-3-1 formation that is so rampant with top European clubs.
The formation meant that he gave more emphasis on midfielders than the forwards which precisely made players like Arturo Vidal, Andrea Pirlo and
Paul Pogba among others more deadly. The formation also meant that defenders had a lot of work to do.
Allegri, though, would prefer a 4-3-2-1 formation to take off the burden from the defenders by fielding a 4-man back line. He has players like Pirlo and Vidal who can dominate the midfield. He needs a player who can attack and track back at the same time which is perfectly suited for Claudio Marchisio through the left while Pogba, if he remains, will be the pivot in the left midfield. He also has Tevez and Llorente who have proved their mettle time and again.
He is said to have a contrasting personality to that of Conte. While Conte was intense and hyper in the dressing room, Allegri is calm and composed.
He has all it takes to bring more success to Juventus but the approach he would take will be entirely different from the man he’s succeeding.
