Chelsea first club in Britain to provide living wages

Chelsea Football Club has become the first club in Britain to provide living wages to its entire staff. This is the result of the campaign carried out by Labour Party MP’s to bring in all the professional football clubs into living wages act.

Chelsea will provide £9.15-an-hour living wage, which according to experts is the minimum wage rate required to live in London.

Living Wage Foundation Director, Rhys Moore said: “The accreditation of Chelsea as a Living Wage employer marks a significant milestone in the campaign.

“We are delighted that more than 1,000 organisations are now accredited Living Wage employers, and we see Chelsea’s leadership on this issue as a mark of a responsible business.”
