Chelsea (4-2-3-1): Courtois; Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry (c), Azpilicueta; Matic, Fabregas (Schurrle 79);Willian, Oscar (Ramires 75), Hazard; Diego Costa (Drogba 66).

Schalke (4-2-3-1): Fahrmann; Uchida, Howedes (c), Felipe Santana, Aogo; Neustadter, Kirchhoff (Clemens h-t); Hoger, Boateng (Meyer 63), Choupo-Moting; Huntelaar.


Overview:


A ruthless Chelsea pushed a helpless Schalke side as they scored five past the Germans at their home stadium as the home fans booed the team at half time. Jose Mourinho's Chelsea part two look like a team to be very strong, as the Blues played some brilliant football and just pushed a Schalke side who looked in tatters come the end of the game.




Chelsea started the game with all guns blazing as they attacked Schalke goal from the very first word go. As Chelsea broke a Schalke attack and pushed forward in vigour as Costa's effort was saved by the keeper with in the first minute. Corner for Chelsea. Cesc Fabregas delivered the ball as Terry jumped and reached the ball as the ball looped inside the net, 1-0 Chelsea within 2 minutes.




Schalke looked like they would equalize as Choupo-Moting’s shot deflected off Gary Cahill and hit the bar, Thibuat Courtios was beaten. But the scored stayed one nil as Chelsea just went on to dominate the game from then. Chelsea soon doubled the lead through Brazilian Willian as he drilled a shot past the Schalke keeper. Thirty minutes in the game, Chelsea completely dominated and another corner game them the third this time an unforced error as three Schalke defenders collided to score an own goal. Chelsea led 3-0 at half time as they displayed a brilliant appetite to win the ball back.




Chelsea started the second half as they left, with Diego almost in with a chance but again it was Santana who stopped the attack. There was some possession for the home side with Chelsea having to defend a shot from Clemens. That was one rare chance for Schalke. It was Chelsea who were threatening again as Willian found Ivanovic alone as he lashed a volley from a Willian cross with was just inches wide. Diego Costa went off as Didier Drogba who helped Roberto Di Matteo win the the Champions league was introduced.


In the 76th minute a double run from Willian and Drogba was spotted by non other than the pass master Cesc who played a defence splitting pass and Willian assisted Drogba to finish of the move. 4-0 Chelsea. Schalke fans had enough for the night as they started emptying the stadium. But Schalke were punished again just with in minutes of the kickoff as Chelsea scored the fifth. Hazard played Drogba in with a pass, with Drogba spotting Ramires in the box as he crossed the Brazilian headed home. Chelsea just out played Schalke as they fixed their seat for the round of sixteen.
