?Martin Odegaard – Real Madrid’s boy wonder

Real Madrid finalized the signing of potential wonderkid Martin Odegaard from Stromsgodset for an undisclosed fee. The 16 year old attacking midfielder is touted as the next big thing in the world of football.

Real Madrid has slashed all barriers for this Norwegian boy wonder by paying almost a rumored fee of £4m for a teenager from a midtable club in Norway. Frankly speaking the standard of football in Norwegian league is nothing. It is more or less at level of English League One. But people have seen something exceptional in the kid. Odegaard is youngest player in Norway’s history to represent it’s national team. He made his international debut at the age of just 15 years.

It is almost ridiculous to imagine a teenager earning a whopping £80,000-a-week in salary and bonuses. It is not when you’re signing for Real Madrid and you’re Martin Odegaard. Yes! That’s’ what he will be earning at Madrid. Well he will surely earn enough money to live his life in peace even if he fails to kick a ball in future, in case he has a career threatening injury.

The onus is on Odegaard to live upto this hype and amount of money that is being splurged on him by Real Madrid. In a way, it is going to be his talent and the riches that will lead to his unbecoming and nothing else. His father and agent, Hans Erik, has to make sure that success doesn’t get over his son’s head. Not everyone can share dressing room with Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Iker Casillas. After all, if he fails here nothing can save his career whereas success here will have the world at his feet.
