Jose Mourinho continues his dominance over Arsene Wenger as his sublime Chelsea breeze past Arsenal. The derby was marred by touchline spat between the two managers as the game became bad to worse for the Gunners.
Arsenal had started this game on bright note as they altered their approach with a bit more compact set up as compared to last time they visited Stamford Bridge. But Mourinho’s men got back into their groove, slowly and steadily.
Chelsea finally got their breakthrough as Eden Hazard converted his penalty after being tripped by Laurient Koscielny. The goal changed the dynamics of the game as Chelsea got more and more comfortable.
Cesc Fabregas made his reunion with all the more special as he began dictating play from the heart of midfield. Along with the Spaniard, Nemanja Matic was relentless in midfield. Arsenal on the other hand lacked any commanding presence all round the pitch as they were bullied by Chelsea players all along.
Diego Costa continued his fine run of form as he again registered himself on the scoresheet with a chip over Arsenal keeper. It was a wonderful goal to start off as Cesc Fabregas played a delightful lob from midfield towards Costa, who then did his job.
There was some dubious refereeing as Martin Atkinson was short on many accounts. As many as four possible red cards should have been brandished but none were.
The ‘Special One’ once again got better of the ‘Specialist in failure’ both on and off the pitch. A harsh challenge by Cahill early in the match saw a fuming Wneger pushing Mourinho who was signalling his counterpart to go back to his technical area. With Mourinho, the mind games and dramatics will always continue as he got the better of Wenger again.
