AC Milan defender Philippe Mexes was at his murky best when he went toe to toe with Lazio captain Stefano Mauri. The brawl began with Mexes grabbing Mauri by throat and what ensued from then on was total chaos.
The Frenchman was separated from Mauri but he soon leapt forward and again went for more, as he tried to headbutt him and also was attempting to grab him from behind.
The Milan defender regretted his on-field shenanigans and was apologetic about his behavior.
"I have to apologise to the club, the coach and my family," Mexes said afterwards. "It was the wrong reaction and I am sorry because I left the team with 10 men and I will be suspended.
"Unfortunately I made a mistake. In my career I have had these reactions. These things should not happen out on a football pitch.
"I have children and this is not the sort of example that a father should set."
AC Milan lost to the Roman side 3-1 as they were completely outclassed by Lazio.
