Real Madrid’s summer signing James Rodriguez is slated to be on the sidelines for at least two months as the playmaker limped off in Real’s 2-1 win over Sevilla.
The Columbian scored Real’s opening goal with a diving header and was in sublime form for the Los Blancos in the New Year. He broke a bone in their tie as he was stretchered off in a win which helped them open up a five point lead at the top.
A statement on the club’s website said: “After the tests carried out on James Rodríguez by the Real Madrid medical services at the Sanitas La Moraleja Hospital, he has been diagnosed with a fracture of the fifth metatarsal in his right foot. The player will undergo surgery in the coming hours.”
James though a key player for Ancelotti won’t be missed that much as Real have adequate replacements in place in the form of Isco and Jese. Both the players are more than capable of filling in for the former AS Monaco man.
Along with James, Real also lost their defensive pillar in Sergio Ramos who limped off due to a hamstring problem.
