Returning club legend, Didier Drogba made his full game debut in the Champions league against Schalke 04. The striker's last appearance for the club was in the 2012 Champions league finals as he scored the winning penalty against Bayern Munich. Drogba who moved back to England as a free agent, was brought in by coach Jose Mourinho to have experienced heads in the dressing room.
After missing out the win against Swansea through a ankle injury, Didier was handed a start against Schalke. The striker barely made an impact. As Chelsea slumped to a 1-1 draw in the night. The Chelsea legend has asked for patience from the blues fans.
"For a first game they were okay, kind of okay," said Drogba. "The good thing is no pain in the ankle, so now I can start working and training and improve the condition.
"I was feeling much better in the second half. I'm like a diesel, I need time."
Drogba twice squandered chances to score, firstly when Willian crossed inside the six-yard box and then when Eden Hazard played him in on goal.
"I had chances, especially the one in the second half. It was a clear chance and I think it's unlucky," he said.
"If I score there there's no more game. The fact that you don't score, they still believe in the equaliser and that's what happened afterwards."
