FC Goa vs Mumbai City FC Preview
With every team in the ISL having won at least one game, Mumbai travel to Goa today in search of their their consecutive victory which would firmly put the team from Western Maharashtra on the trail to qualify for the semi finals of the inaugural season. Goa on the other hand who are struggling to score goals which win you matches have achieved their first victory to give them confidence and a chance to qualify for the top four spots.
Mumbai have managed to string a couple wins courtesy of goals from Nicolas Anelka who first scored a sublime free kick against Kerala and latter a brilliant finish against Delhi Dynamos to get Mumbai into the top four.
FC Goa who had their marquee player back fro suspension, lost their last game to Kerala through a solitary goal from Gonsalves. But Goa are motivated and coach Zico has faith in his boys as to that they can achieve a positive result today.
Mumbai City FC vice captain Manuel Friedrich praised the atmosphere at the grounds
"Playing in India is very different to playing in Germany or England. Here the supporters create a great atmosphere and enjoy the game irrespective of which team you are representing."
"The ISL is a major step towards making football the second biggest sport in the country," said the German, who insisted that the team was focused on making it to the semifinals and the final in the inaugural edition.
"Be it the Indian players or foreigners, all of us are focused to taking the team to the semis," he added.
Coach Peter Reid called for consistency from team:
"We need to be consistent and need to win matches away. Our squad is shaping up well and you will see many more youngsters making an impact soon," he added.
