1. Luis Suarez
The Uruguayan was touted as one of the favorites for the top prize in European football. Somehow he is not even shortlisted for the honor. Now there has to be something fishy here. It looks like he bit more than he could chew.
2. Arturo Vidal
He is arguably the best center midfielder in the world let alone in Europe. When he misses out on the 23 man shortlist that means only one thing, all these awards are bollocks. He had an unreal season with Juventus leading them to third Scudetto in a row. Despite being injured, the midfielder was the key man for Chile in Brazil. It is baffling to see him not even being considered for the award.
3. Juan Cuadrado
The Columbian had his best season till date in his career, both for his club and career. He should have been on the list, no matter what. Interest from European powerhouses like Barcelona and Manchester United has to mean something.
4. Luka Modric
He was one of the key members of the mission ‘La Decima’. He along with Xabi Alonso formed one of the most formidable partnerships in European midfield. Although he had a subdued World Cup but nonetheless he was in op 5 midfielders in Europe last season.
5. Koke
He was the best young midfielder in Spain and arguably in Europe. It astonishes that in spite of having most number of assists in Spain and leading Atletico to their first Liga crown in almost 20 years. What is more baffling that Paul Pogba is on the list and Koke is not.
